Crack Supervisor Password of IBM ThinkPad T30 Laptop
my friend had forget the Supervisor Password of IBM ThinkPad T30 laptop,so he hope I can help to crack this supervisor.
I am prepare crack it after work yesteday.
the crypto chip of IBM ThinkPad T30 is 24RF08 chip.
Reader-writer of 24RF08 chip have 2 style,one is sample that do not need to chip and power,other is more complex that need conversion chip.
The beginning I used a simple method carve the lines in a small piece of single-sided circuit boards , solder on the resistors and diodes,Then required for connection all signal lines, operating software, always prompt “Eeprom not available”. I double-check circuit boards Many times, but I have not found the problem, so I have to give up this way as well.
I don’t Post photos of this simple version of the reader , and anyway what is a failure, you did not need to follow me.
I try second method,this method need to use TTL-RS232 level converter chip,the most common is Maxin’Max232 series chip.I choose MAX232CPE chip.Other accessories include: 5 1uf capacitance, two 1N4148 diodes, two 4.7K resistors, a 9-pin serial connector.Tuesday,I go to my friend company and found that they are doing some product that t use the interface circuit of MAX232A, so I got 2 pcs this interface circuit. 
Although it is not the same as I want, I think it will be work after change circuit a litter.
DIY reader-writer.it may seem a bit crude. 
The next step is make a electric power source of reader-writer.this step is very easy.
Finally,we lead-out the GND, SDA, SCL three signal lines from the eeprom.
Note:Do not directly welding the GND, SDA, SCL three signal lines on reader-writer.
the step of connect reader-writer
1. insert reader-writer into COM1 of desktop
2. plug in battery case on, but not turn on the button.
3. remove laptop battery, plug in laptop adapter. once circuit has a problem, the adapter can be pulled out quickly.
4. switch laptop, hold F1, it will stop on the location of type password. wait a moment, until the light of hard disk not blinking.
5. connect the signal line, which on the chip, step as GND -> SDA -> SCL
6. open the switch of the battery case
7. Operating the desktop as follow: start -> run -> input:cmd -> enter key -> input:cd c:\allservice\24rf08\ -> enter key -> input：r24rf08 mynb.bin /x /d /i -> enter key
8. running program of IBMpass 2.0 Lite password calculation on windows interface, open the rom file, which just generated.
9. laptop readed rom, running IBMpass decrypt, the password 92677 immediately apparent.
10. remove three lines on chip, restore laptop.switch laptop, hold F1, input password 92677, enter into bios . you can change all of option.
