Quanta Computer Incorporated is a Taiwan-based manufacturer of notebook computers and other electronic hardware. It is the largest manufacturer of notebook computers in the world. Its customers include ACER, Alienware, Apple Inc., Cisco, Compaq, Dell, Fujitsu, Gateway, Gericom, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Maxdata, MPC, Sharp Corporation, Siemens AG, Sony, Sun Microsystems, and Toshiba. It was founded by Barry Lam in 1988. Lam continues to head the company.

Quanta Computers was announced as the original design manufacturer (ODM) for the XO-1 by the One Laptop per Child project on 2005-12-13, and has taken an order for one million laptops as of 2007-02-15^.

It is estimated that Quanta had a 33% worldwide market share of notebook computers in 2005.

According to incomplete statistics, the world has at least 1 / 3 of the laptop computers, Quanta are a true “unsung heroes.” OEM range of Quanta’s products include laptop computers, LCD monitors and LCD PC, mobile phone, PDA, server, storage media and other information products, which mainly laptop-based. It is reported that in 2007 the development strategy in 2008, Quanta will focus on the challenges Taiwan OEM 40 million mark, including Hewlett-Packard has orders for more than 10 million units, Apple has more than 8 million units, Apple’s MacBook Air be made in Quanta .
